The NBR Study Group appreciates how much you care about the way your personal information is used and we strive to protect its confidentiality and integrity. The Group’s Privacy Policy has been revised in compliance with the GDPR to advise you how we collect your information and how it is used. Our Policy sets out how members of the North British Railway Study Group can expect personal data provided by themselves for membership administration purposes, to be retained and managed on the Group’s behalf by the Membership Secretary.
Who controls the personal information collected?
All personal information collected is in the control of the North British Railway Study Group which is a non-incorporated private association of individuals sharing a common interest in the North British Railway and whose current contact address is:

The Committee exercises the function of ‘Data Controller’ while the Membership Secretary is the ‘Processor’, both in terms of the GDPR.
How do we collect your personal information?
We do not collect any personal information through use of the main pages of the website except your email address, which will be retained for a period after you send us an email using the form on this site.
Should you decide to apply for membership of the Study Group online or by either a printed form or a form downloaded from this website, forwarded by post, we will extract your personal details from the form and store it on a secure membership database.
What is your personal information used for?
Members’ personal information is held securely on the Membership Database for the purposes of membership and general administration, including Journal mailing. In addition, very limited sets of data are used by nominated officers of the Group, to control access to the members’ area of this website, Gift Aid reclaim and for group e-mailing by the Membership Secretary.
Do we share your information?
The NBR Study Group will not share personal information with third parties except with your express permission and for a specific purpose
How can you gain access to your personal information?
Members may contact the Group’s Secretary at any time to obtain details of the personal information the Group hold about them. The Secretary also holds a full version of our Personal Data Retention Policy, which includes a full list of Data Sets, holders and retention periods and a copy is available on request.
Through the annual subscription process, members are provided with an opportunity to ensure that their personal information is correct and current, and they may review and update this information at any time by contacting the Membership Secretary, direct.
If you decide to terminate your membership at any time and wish us to delete your data entirely from our system, we will do so on request.
How secure is your personal information?
Members’ personal details are held in a protected database, which can only be accessed by nominated officers of the Group. This database is stored offline on a password-protected device.
